The Yeye Oba of Iyara Land, Chief Funmilayo Bodunde, has been recognised by Kogi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) for her selfless service to humanity.

Chief Bodunde, a renown philanthropist, will be conferred with ‘Icon of Humanitarian Service and Community Development Award’ by NUJ during its press week on August 20.

According to a letter signed by Chairman of the Union, Alhaji Ademu Seidu Haruna and Secretary, Comrade Olusegun Ayindero-Oyenibi, the honour followed a painstaking process as she is the only personality endorsed for the award in Kogi West senatorial district.

“We write to convey the approval of the State Executive Council, SEC, of NUJ to confer on You the Union’s Award of Icon of Humanitarian Services and Community Development.

“The decision of the State Executive Council of the Union for the conferment of the Award also received the endorsement of the Congress of the Union.

“This Award is in recognition of your various selfless services that have helped in alleviating the plight of the less privileged in the society especially women,” the letter read.

The investiture of the award will hold at the grand finale of the Union’s Press Week slated for 20th August, 2024 at Edge Drive Hotel, Lokoja at 10am where Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is also to be honoured as the Grand Patron of the NUJ.
