Channels Kids’ Cup Final: Kogi Confronts Kaduna

Qua-Iboe Primary School Idah in Kogi and LGA Mohammed Kabir Primary School Kaduna will lock horns today in the final of this year’s Season 8 of the Channels National Kids’ Cup Championship at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
The defending champions, Arinze Primary School of Benin City, Edo state who had earlier boasted of an easy passage to the final lost grip of their title to the boys from Kogi in the first semi final match played yesterday.

No thanks to a defensive blunder in the second half of the game which resulted to a penalty that gave the boys from Idah Kogi the slot for today’s final after a thrilling first half encounter ended goalless. Playmaker of the team, Peter Emmanuel finished calmly from the spot to secure the crucial victory.
In the second semi final match, the Kaduna boys booked their place in the final after beating Saint James Government School Oshogbo, Osun state 2-0. Chidiebube James and Lucky Moses scored in the first half to deliver the much needed victory at Teslim Balogun Stdium.
Last year, Research Model Primary School Kaduna got to the final, but lost to Enyenugie Primary School Edo and Kaduna’s goal scorer, James said, they (Kaduna) cannot be twice unlucky in this tournament.

He said, “ we are going to take our chance this time around. Kaduna got to the final last year but lost and this time we are here again, so we are going to take our time to ensure that we take this trophy to Kaduna. We are going to avoid silly mistakes that could cost us the trophy this time. We want to celebrate the Children’s day this year with this trophy by God’s grace, we know that our friends from Kogi state are also good, but they are beatable”.
The end of the Channels National Kids Cup coincides with the celebration of Children’s Day which comes up today.
There will be side attractions aside the third place match between the defending champions, Edo and Osun and before the final game, Channels Television football team will take on Eko Football team in a novelty match.
