Chairman Seek Lokoja Stakeholders Support on Education

The Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Council, Alhaji Aliyu Baba Usman has sought the support of stakeholders in the education sector in his effort to revamp it for optimum productivity for future generation.

This was contained in a Press Statement released by the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Yabagi Mohammed.

He made the call during a familiarization visit to him by the stakeholders led by the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers, Lokoja Local Government Chapter, Comrade Mahmud Shehu at his office at the Council Secretariat in Lokoja.

The Chairman restated his determination to see that despite the dip in resources, education gets the required priority that it deserves.

According to Aliyu Baba Usman, his administration is ready to leave no stone unturned in his quest to see that the rot in that subsector are righted for posterity.

He bemoaned the prevailing wage bill of the Council in the education sector, especially when compared with other LGAs who have exceedingly low bill compared to what obtains in Lokoja LGA.

The Chairman expressed his determination to wade in on the discomfort that confront the people that f the Council, saying that as an administration with passion for the plight of the downtrodden in the society, he would put human face to whatever policy he rolls out.

Responding, the Chairman of NUT in Lokoja Local Government Area, Comrade Mahmud Shehu, who prayed for the success of the administration, stated their resolve to five the Chairman the support he needs to succeed.

He said he and his members were at the Chairman’s office to familiarize themselves with him and to intimate him on the challenges faced by stakeholders in the education sector.

Also present at the meeting was the local government’s acting Education Secretary and other principal officers in the education sector.
