I, Hon. Clement Daudu, Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Kogi State on Private Education Institutions, heartily congratulate Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha, the distinguished Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), on his remarkable two years in office.

Within just two years of purposeful and visionary leadership, Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha has redefined energy governance and policy direction in Nigeria. His tenure has recorded landmark achievements that have positioned ECN as a leading institution in Africa’s clean and renewable energy drive.

Under his watch, the National Energy Policy (NEP) and National Energy Master Plan (NEMP) were unveiled marking the first time in history that the Commission has both a comprehensive national policy and master plan to guide energy development and sustainability in Nigeria.

He also established the Barefoot Renewable Energy College in Osara, Kogi State, a forward-thinking initiative designed to build local capacity and empower Nigerians, especially rural communities, in renewable energy technology.

His leadership has taken Nigeria’s energy diplomacy to the global stage, leading high powered delegations to COP29 to engage world leaders on sustainable energy financing and partnerships.

The ECN under his administration has also commissioned a free hybrid electric vehicle charging station to advance clean energy adoption in Nigeria, signed landmark MoUs with China and other countries, and initiated the 7MW Solar Power Project at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, a major milestone in the nation’s transition to green energy.

Through strategic collaborations with world industry leaders, ECN is now driving local solar manufacturing and boosting renewable energy penetration across the country. Other impactful initiatives include the Renewable Energy Empowerment Programme in Odoli, Owerri, collaboration with ECOWAS to launch the National Energy Information System (NEIS), distribution of low emission wood stoves to women, and numerous training and empowerment programmes aimed at building local expertise in renewable energy.

All these and many more too numerous to mention have been achieved within just two years of his purposeful leadership.

Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha is indeed a shining example of the right peg fitted into the right hole. A visionary, a reformer, and a role model to Nigerian youths.

Once again, congratulations on this milestone, sir. Your dedication, innovation, and commitment to national development continue to inspire many of us.
