With the collapsing of some houses around Ganaja area of Lokoja, people whose houses were submerged by water recently have been advised to carry out an integrity test on their buildings before rushing in.
Arc Yomi Awoniyi, stated this while receiving 500 mattresses as relief materials from Mouka Form Limited in Lokoja today.
Represented by Ogu Onekutu, Special Adviser on Special Duties, appealed to those who are rushing back to their submerged houses to do an audit test to established the building strength and fumigation to ward off reptiles before they can move in.
The State government Arc Awoniyi, explained is concerned about safety and post flood management, has acquired plots of land for the building of low cost houses, however said that only those who meet government requirements will be considered.
Items donated the Deputy Governor explained will go a long way in cushioning the sleeping condition of those displaced, assured that it will be judiciously utilized.
In her remarks, Mrs Peju Adebajo, Managing Director Mouka Form Limited, said the items were donated to aid in the rehabilitation efforts of the displaced victims, adding that the issue of assisting the displaced persons should not be left in the hands of government alone.
