CARES Foundation and a Tuesday to Remember in Yagba

Residents of the ancient city of Mopa will remember Tuesday the Sixteenth October 2018 for a very long time to come. It was a day one of the appointee of the New Direction Government of Governor Yahaya Bello, Hon Mrs Bolanle Amupitan, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development through her Foundation impacted the Community in many ways.
CARES is a Foundation set up by Hon Amupitan to assist the ‘active’ poor, the less privileged, children and women lead a meaningful life by providing assistance in the area of empowerments, provisions of aids and appliances to people living with disabilities e.t.c. The Foundation in less than three years of existence has achieved so much in terms of touching the people especially women and children, people living with disabilities e.t.c.
In December 2016, the CARES FOUNDATION organised a two day free medical tests and treatment for people in Mopa and environs where over three hundred women and children benefited. Also, mosquito nets, toiletries and food materials were shared to women and children.
The 2016 CARES FOUNDATION Day ended in Mopa township hall on the 26th December as over thirty carefully selected women got items like Sewing machines, hairdressing equipments, grinding  machines, motorcycles, deep freezers e.t.c  and cash as capitals to twenty petty traders spread across ten wards of Mopamuro LGA. Five students got scholarships and some physically challenged got mobility aids.
The 2017 edition held in Mopa town hall with almost the same narrative…. touching the lives of the people.
As a follow up to the loaded activitiesof CARES FOUNDATION of 2016 and 2017, history was made again Tuesday the 16th of October as Hon Mrs Bolanle Amupitan made a bold statement that will endear her to the people forever.
First was the arrival of Her Excellency Rashida Bello to officially commissioned the two boreholes donated by the Foundation. Witnessed by the paramount Ruler of Mopa, HRH Oba Funsho Joledo JP, the Elulu of Mopa and the Chairman Mopamuro Traditional Council at the site of the first borehole, Her Excellency Rashida Bello described the gesture as laudable as water is a basic necessity of life.
“With clean water, humans will spend less on health as many killer diseases are related to water from unhygienic sources”. Her Excellency said before cutting the tape.
The Elulu of Mopa who was visibly elated prayed for the initiator of the project, he charged the people to maintain the facilities. A brand new generator was donated one each to the two communities  to power the holes.
Adogbe community and Okeguru Community residents can not hide their joy. Speaking on behalf of the community Okedagun, Deacon Solomon while receiving the generator on behalf of the community commended the CARES Foundation for identifying their perennial water problems of many years and solving it.
Equally, Hon Chief Olujide who speak and collected the generator on behalf of the Adogbe community said CARES has saved the community of the trouble of assessing clean water.
Her Excellency was led to the MLGEA Okedigba by her host, Hon Amupitan where school children were already lined to receive school bags, school uniforms and writing materials donated by the Foundation.
The Commissioner, before distributing the items to the ecstatic school pupils, told the First Lady that the Foundation is concerned about how school pupils looked unkept and without this basics needed to allow them concentrate in classes. Over two hundred pupils across Mopamuro ten political wards will benefit from this.
In a capacity filled Mopa City hall where people were already seated, the Hon Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development and the brain behind CARES Foundation, Mrs Bolanle Amupitan was welcomed into the hall with a standing ovation. Thirty women (ten each from three Yagba Federal Constituency local government Areas) trained by CARES FOUNDATION in various locations like soap making got their Certificates and a starter pack to enable them establish their businesses.
Her Excellency, Rashida Bello who was impressed with the activities of the Foundation to empower the women  made a donation of twenty thousand naira each to the thirty women as add up capital too.
A woman Mrs Olufinran who trade in soft drinks got a brand new deep freezer to aid her business, Mr Segun Osho got a brand new motorcycle to aid his movement for business among other beneficiaries.
Another high point of the day was when Mrs Amupitan announced to the people that her Foundation has already started a befitting modest building for a woman of about seventy years old who was living in a dillapidated building in Mopa. The building shall be completed soon for the old woman to enjoy old age in a dignifying apartment.
On ground to give support to CARES FOUNDATION was AHF, the organisation has been doing great in testing and giving technical support to people living with HIV in Nigeria for over twenty years now. Free HIV tests and counselling were conducted people who willingly visit the AHF corner for assistance.
It is important to note that CARES FOUNDATION is not restricting this gestures to Mopamuro and Yagba alone. The next Community to benefit is Ayere town in Ijumu local government of Kogi State.
