The Bishop of Kabba Anglican Diocese, the Rt Rev’d Steven Kayode Akobe, has condemned in strong terms the various acts of terrorism and the degenerating insecurity in Nigeria, urging the Federal Government to rise to the occasion.
Bishop Kayode Akobe made this condemnation while reading his charge during the first session of the 9th synod of the diocese which held at the Cathedral Church of St Andrew Kabba, Kogi State.
Akobe who sited the increasing kidnapping cases and killing of many innocent souls taking place in the country as examples, described it as worrisome and noted that it is the duty of government to protect lives and properties of the citizens.
The cleric, who dwelt much on the synod theme which is the priesthood of fatherhood taken from Genesis 18: 17-19, urged fathers to brace up to their responsibilities.
He called on government to diversify the economy in view of the fall in price of oil all over the world ,just as he advised government to desist from taking foreign loans to administer the country.
According to him, such loans add to the suffering of the citizens and keep them in perpetual servitude like in Greece.
On COVID 19 pandemic, he said it has helped Nigerians to come to terms with the ineptitude of political leaders, awful state of health sector among others, and urged that the concerned should amend as well as draw close to God.
While urging the Federal Government to tackle unemployment squarely, he commended her for increase in minimum wage.
