The new Chief Coach of Kogi United Abdullahi Abidemi Biffo has revealed plans for his new club as he targets quick promotion to the Glo Premier League for the Idris Wada Boys.
Biffo was appointed on Thursday by the management of the Nigeria National League (NNL) side, to replace former handler Fatai Osho.
Biffo’s appointment was ratified following the indefinite suspension placed on Osho in April.
In a chat with SportingLife after his appointment, Biffo said an enabling environment has been created for him to work with.
The former Giwa FC manager said he is happy with the offers he signed with Kogi United.
SportingLife understands that Biffo had series of offers from four clubs before deciding to settle for Kogi United.
“My target for the club is not different from the management’s goal and objective which is to lead the team to the premier league next season. The sole administrator is not new to me. I have known him since his days at ABS. He is a result oriented administrator and always in support of the team for required results. When I received a call from him I could not just say no despite the fact that there were interest from other clubs,” Biffo told SportingLife.
The Ilorin-born coach is expected to be unveiled to the club’s supporters in Lokoja today.
“The preparation for the challenge has started already and all I want is cooperation from everybody. I am already in Lokoja and I am feeling at home already. There is no league match this weekend and I will use the break to familiarise with the players. We hope to have a good family.”
Biffo has however heaped praises on his former employer, Giwa FC for the opportunity giving him to work with the club.
“Giwa FC will forever remain in my mind. I want to thank the chairman of the club Ambassador, Chris Giwa for the opportunity he gave me to work with the club. I owe him a lot. This is a team I serve for two good years and I want to say that I really enjoy my stay there with the cooperation of everybody. I want to wish the team well and success. The Chairman, fan and my players’ I left behind.”
Biffo helped Giwa FC gained promotion to the Nigeria Premier League last season after two season campaign at the lower cadre. He had worked with Ondo United, SEC Abuja, FC Taraba, Kwara United, FC Dender (now Remo Stars) and Giwa FC.
