Beware of Sychophants, Hon. Yori Afolabi Warns Wada

As the people of Kogi State continue to  savour  the successful  return of  the governor, Captain Idris Wada to his duty post, after his absence due to the injury he sustained in an auto crash, last year December, the Minority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Honourable Yori Afolabi has warned him to beware of sycophants, who do not  have the interest of the state at heart.

Afolabi, who is an All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) member representing Ijumu Constituency informed that sycophants have nothing to offer but are only after their selfish interests.

According to him “ Captain Wada should be more pragmatic in the governance of Kogi State by ensuring the judicious use of resources of the state, both capital and human and should be watchful of sycophants who are interested in their stomach only”

On the successful return of the governor to the state  after the accident, Afolabi informed that “we are happy that the governor is back, nobody is immune to accident and only a mad man or insane person would be happy that his fellow human being is involved in an accident.”

The minority leader, who  spoke with newsmen at the weekend added “to me we thank God, his  return would  give the governor another opportunity to serve humanity and have more faith in God”

He believed that the accident should remind all leaders that the power you have is transient, “that one day it would end and that nobody can determine the time”

The lawmaker stressed that the governor should ensure that all contracts awarded should be executed with high quality materials insisting that “he should ensure that there is value for every money spent” adding that “ l am pleased with the on going renovation of Hassan Katsina road at the state capital, it is a quality job. On this one, I commend the governor, the people of the state are yearning for more of this.”

He however commended the governor for pursuing with vigour the issue of youth empowerment which to him has drastically reduced thuggery activities saying “one other thing l would commend him for is reducing to the barest minimum the activities of thuggery as it used to be in the past where thugs were gods”

Afolabi explained that Wada’s initiatives in Agriculture and policy of  returning farmers to the farm worth commendation adding that “ one could see how the banks of River Niger is being utilized for  cultivation of  Rice and other crops, this is good for our youths and farmers, local governments areas should be encouraged to do same”
