Bello-Onoja: A Toxic Combination Too Lethal

There is no human-induced disaster that is as lethal, destructive and damaging like having the wrong, corrupt, incompetent and least qualified set of people preside over the affairs of the masses. It is a misnomer, a shift from the norm and an aberration that shouldn’t be tolerated.

The consequences of allowing men and women of questionable credentials to pilot our affairs on our behalf are quite dire and they oftentime take time and God’s grace to correct. Some human errors have minimal and manageable consequences, but not entrusting power in the hands of the wrong people who lack both the mental and moral pedigree to function effectively.

Kogi citizens have been operating or living under the yoke of a leadership that is everything, but competent, purposeful and intentional. What we have in the state today is more of a political contraption that has reversed all the modern gains recorded by previous administrations.

The guys in Lugard House have made a bad situation worse. Incompetence walks on all fours in the state. Kogi state has become the headquarters of lawlessness, criminality and official rascality.

As terrible and messy as Kogi state has been under the watch of Yahaya Bello, regrettably, the same guy is angling to stage a return come November 16. He’s seriously banking on external forces to rig the forthcoming election in his favour. Buy by God’s grace, politically, Bello has reached his cul de sac, and we can’t wait to see him vacate the Lugard House.

With a clueless Yahaya Bello as governor, manipulative Edward as deputy and their band of lackeys with itchy fingers across all the LGAs, Kogi can never witness anything close to development. It is a marriage of desperate characters and economic usurpers whose sole purpose of occupying public office is for personal aggrandizement and nothing more.

The Bello/Edward collabo portends doom for us as a people. There is no scintilla of hope that these guys would put our state on the path of progress. For this and other plausible reasons, Kogites have collectively resolved to vote against them on November 16. We cannot afford to keep Bello and his boys longer than January 2020. Truly, no one had envisaged that things could degenerate to this extent given the funds coming into the state’s coffers in the last three years and a half years.

To rewrite Kogi’s embarrassing governance records, we need to replace Bello and Edward with leaders who have the interest of the people at heart. Not a visionless, planless, directionless and corrupt leadership that has continued to inflict untold hardship on the people. Sadly, while a vast majority of our people can hardly feed, Bello and his men are busy building/buying houses, and buying exotic cars for themselves with taxpayers money. This is the anomaly we all want to address.

Fellow Kogites, this is the time to walk the talk. This is the time to bring in people who are eminently qualified to preside over our affairs. Yahaya Bello’s Government has nothing good to offer us. Let’s look in the direction of other Candidates in our quest to end Bello’s inglorious and profitless reign in the state.

Carpe diem. Let’s seize the moment!
