The convener of Kogi Built Environment and Building Materials Exhibition, BEBM Exhibition Plc said it has concluded arrangements to host the 2017 exhibition in the state.
The Executive Director of the BEBM Exhibitions, Engr. Oladipo Makakese Bayode disclosed this recently in Lokoja while on a partnership visit to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
The annual 3-day event which will commence on the 17th of October, 2017 according to Engr Bayode has “Indigenous Building Materials: An Alternative Approach to Housing Shortage in a Recessed Economy ” as its theme.
He disclosed that due to the sensitive role stable electricity ought to play in a drive to boost the economy, a day would be set aside for stakeholders in power generation, distribution and consumption to discuss the role of community in curbing electricity theft and vandalism in the state.
Engr Bayode equally notified the AEDC Regional Manager that tradesmen, professionals in built environment, manufacturers, suppliers and government policy makers that will be at the programme would like to know the effort being made by the AEDC in improving electricity consumption through metering and estimated billing system.
Responding, the AEDC Regional Manager Alhaji Garba Madani who disclosed that the company will soon start free distribution of 500,000 prepaid metre across the state, urged consumers to know that AEDC is now privately-owned company.
Alhaji Madani lamented the inability of consumers to promptly pay their bills, incessant removal of transformers and cable are some of the factors militating against power distribution in the state.
He, however, expressed optimism that power distribution in the state would geometrically increase from the present 12 hours per day if all stakeholders in the sector would remain sincere in the discharge their obligations.
