The National 2nd Vice President of the Performing Musicians Association Of Nigeria (PMAN), Baba Ojonugwa JFO has called on the federal government to look into an upward review of the wages of civil servants in the country to N60,000.00 calling the N18,000.00 minimum wage as “slavery cum starvation wage” .
JFO, while speaking with journalists at Sheraton Hotel Abuja stated that the devaluation of the Naira today underscores the grim situation for salary earners in the country against the fact that the nation’s economy is import driven.
“The devaluation, in simple economic terms, means that the purchasing power of the ordinary Nigerian wage earner is grossly devalued. The 18,000 Naira minimum wage is no longer realistic as minimum wage looking at the grim economic reality”, he said.
JFO called on Federal government to block  leakages in the system, halt corruption and harness the various highly publicised recovered looted funds into masses welfarism and projects that will uplift the living standard of Nigerians.
