Awoniyi Urges Local Councils to Utilize SURE-P Funds

The Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi has charged Local Government Councils in the state on the need to sustain and effectively utilize SURE-P funds accrued to their Council.

Yomi Awoniyi, gave the charge when he inspected ongoing construction of market stalls at Ogugu in Olamaboro LGA of the State.

The market project is being executed with the SURE-P intervention funds by the Olamaboro Local Government Council.

Awoniyi commended the prudent use of resources deployed in the market construction by the council, describing the level of work done as excellent.

The Deputy Governor who promised sustained monitoring of all ongoing SURE-P projects across the various councils in the State, said the initiative was geared towards ensuring quality standard of work and efficient utilization of resources.

Having seen the extent of work done on the market project, the Deputy Governor commended the State SURE-P monitoring committee for closely watching activities of the Chairmen and for the fairness and objectivity in their report.

Awoniyi who lauded the Olamaboro council boss for a good job in providing critical infrastructures for the people, called on other Chairmen to emulate his efforts.

Earlier in his report, Farouk Adejoh, Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government Council said the market project was conceptualized to improve the economic well-being of people of the area and said aside the Ogugu market and two other markets who’s construction are going on simultaneously in the other districts of the Council, he disclosed that he has used the SURE-P fund for road construction and to improve on several other infrastructures.
