Awoniyi Praised Wada for the Peaceful and Successful Conduct of LG Polls

The Peaceful and successful conduct of the just concluded Local Council elections held in Kogi State has been described as another milestone in the Capt Idris Wada’s administration.

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, stated this through a statement thanked God for the peaceful and orderly conduct of  the election in Mopamuro LGA in particular and the State in general.

Awoniyi, explained that the rumours of war that preceded the election across the state and the peaceful and orderly conduct of the poll, called for commendation to the state electoral body,security agencies and the electorates.

The Deputy Governor noted that despite some pockets of violence, the polls were generally adjudged as free, fair, credible and transparent, commended the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission and Security agencies for the success of the poll.

Awoniyi, appealed to the winners across the state to be magnanimous in victory while he urged the losses to accept the verdict of the election in good faith as other opportunities will certainly present itself for another contest where they may emerged winners.

The Deputy Governor lamented the spate of violence as well as the increase in young men getting involved in electoral violence, said the present administration in the state abhors violence and will pursue programs aimed at making the youths useful and self reliant.

The Deputy Governor described the election of democratically elected representatives at the third tier of governance as an achievement of the Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada and his believe in the importance the councils play in the lives of the people, called on those elected to exhibit a high sense of responsibility while discharging their duties.
