The Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu has ordered the transfer of the case instituted by Kogi State governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello against senatorial candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) for Kogi Central in the last senatorial election, Barr. Natasha Akpoti to the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The IGP who had earlier halted the move allegedly orchestrated by the governor to arrest Natasha on Thursday with the use of SARS Lokoja unit, approved the letter by Natasha Akpoti’s lawyer seeking for the transfer of the case by Kogi State governor accusing Natasha of cyber stalking.
In a letter to the IGP by her lawyer dated 18th April, Akpoti had earlier complained of insecurity and threat to her life by the state governor and his agents, the reason IGP ordered the transfer of the case to the Force Headquarters.
With the transfer of the case by the Inspector General of Police, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, IGP Monitoring Unit has been ordered to investigate the case and report back to the IGP.
