What happened on Saturday as it pertain to the attack on Dr. Usman Ogbo and other supporters of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ankpa is nothing but an old timer political tricks/ gimmicks and a chameleonic approach to rig the forth coming November 16 governorship election in the state.
A philosophical analysis of the above incident will show us that it was or might be a planned attack by APC on its faithfuls and make it looks as if they were attacked by the opposition so as to create an atmosphere of insecurity vis a vis the forth coming election.
Now the question is, what do they intend to achieve? Simple, they will blow the whistle and propaganda of insecurity and that will be the basis of the federal government to intervene by sending excess security agencies to the state, whose mission might not only include protection of lives and properties but also aid in the rigging of the election and other electoral malpractice in favor of the ruling party, the APC.
This has been part of the allegations and evidences been advanced by opposition parties in past elections. Same scenario is about to be used in the state.
Now, let’s come to the issue of the attack on APC faithfuls. Despite the fact that we do not encourage political violence, we should also not also encourage and empower those that cause or activate political violence. The common sense question we should be asking is simple. The question is not why Dr. Usman Ogbo was attacked, but what took Dr. Ogbo and other faithfuls that were attacked to where an opposition party is holding its mini rally or procession with vehicles branded with Yahaya Bello pictures? The singular act by the APC is provocative and what do you expect when you push people to their walls. Also, does Dr. Usman Ogbo think that he was going to an academic summit where its expected that every body present is refined academically? He knew that he was approaching a political gathering and such an act will attract a counter reaction and that was what happened.
If the perpetrators are to be arrested, then equally, in the spirit of fairness, Dr. Usman Ogbo should be arrested as well for inciting the violence.
Lastly, let Edward Onoja and those heating up the polity and propagating the waters of threat and violence know that Kogi state is and has been a theater of peaceful co-existence and we can continue to loose precious souls and humans just because of personal political gains.
Kogi state must be liberated.
