A mild drama occurred in Okene today during the 11th year anniversary of late Senator A.T. Ahmed.
Kogi State Deputy Governor, Elder Simon Achuba represented the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
While delivering the Governor’s goodwill message, Achuba told the large gathering that Ebiras have every reason to support the administration of the state in order to enjoy full dividend of democracy. He went further to ask, “you have the governor, what else do you want”? A crowd responded immediately, “we want Chief of Staff”. The deafening response resonated across the venue for a long time but Achuba managed the situation effectively.
The response is a picture of the reality in Ebiraland. The people love their son, the governor but feels they are being shortchanged by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Edward Onoja whose influence, many believed, has reduced Yahaya Bello to mere ceremonial Governor of the state.
Governor Bello was honoured with an award for purposeful leadership while Deputy Governor Achuba was honoured with the award of humility and good service.
Achuba called on the Ebira youth to drop any spirit of fighting and rally support for the present administration of the state for the good of the people.
