Worried by the spate of fake news on social media, North-based online publishers under Arewa Online Publishers Association (AOPA) is organising a one-day public lecture in Kaduna, the political stronghold of Northern Nigeria.
The public lecture, which comes up on Wednesday November 27, 2019 in Kaduna has the theme: “The Role of New Media in Nation Building.”
A statement by the Secretary of the Association, Balarabe Junaidu, a renowned Mass Communication lecturer and media consultant, Prof. Umaru Pate of Bayero University Kano (BUK) is expected to be the guest speaker at the event scheduled to hold at Arewa House Banquet Hall, Kaduna.
The statement reads in part ”some distinguished great Nigerians and Corporate Organizations who have made outstanding contributions to nation building would be honoured during the occasion.
“The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman would be the Royal Father of the Day while the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-rufa’i is expected as Chief Host.
“As one of the critical stakeholders in nation building, the Arewa Online Publishers Association (AOPA) wishes to invite all Stakeholders to the event which begins 10: am prompt.
“The Association with its headquarters in Kaduna, is a collection of seasoned practising Journalists who operate online media platforms across the 19 Northern States and Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.”
