Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogugu, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State Saturday defied heavy downpour to conduct the party’s congress.
In Ogugu ward III, the congress which led to the emergence of twenty six executive members that would pilot the affairs of the party in the ward in the next four years witnessed a large turnout of APC members from across the area.
The Chief of Staff who monitored the peacefully conducted congress said the successful outcome of the event was an utter show of love for the party and the duo of President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State for their respective efforts in bringing succour to the masses.
“Party members from all the polling units in Ogogu Ward III defied the rain for this congress; this is to tell you the level of passion, belief, support and dedication they have for the APC.
“This support is not just like that, it is because of the developmental efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari, our Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the Olamaboro Area Council Administrator, Hon. Nicodemus Friday Adejoh and of course the support some of us in government are giving to our people,” he said.
He said Governor Bello has done greatly in two years to better the lives of the people of Ogugu Ward III And Other parts of the state by providing them with infrastructures that had hitherto eluded them even when they were having their own as governors before the emergence of Governor Bello in 2016.
“If you can recall, in our ward we now have eight motorized boreholes that are serving our people with portable water. The people never had water in the last 25 years. Olamaboro is now being connected with the eastern part of Nigeria by road. What that means is that people will no longer need to use Benue State as transit points before going to the east. Eastern bound motorists will now pass through our area and that will open up commercial activities for our people,” he said.
Onoja congratulated the 26-man executive council and urged them to carry the people along in running the affairs of the party. He urged the officials to mobilise all the people in the ward to ensure victory for the party at all levels in 2019.
“Anybody who does not have PVC should go and register because the next elections will be free and fair. There will be no snatching of ballot boxes. Our PVCs will be our weapons,” the Chief of Staff advised.
Speaking on behalf of the newly elected ward executives, the Chairman elect, Elder Matthew Ameh thanked the President, Muhammadu Buhari, the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun, the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and his Chief of Staff, Hon Edward Onoja for making the party to grow from strength to strength.
