The All Progressive Congress, APC, in Kogi State has once again dragged Kogi State Government to court over the appointment of Senior Special Assistants to take over the affairs of 21 local government councils in the state.

The Chieftain of APC, Chief Goodman Umar  Akwu, who disclosed this while addressing the newsmen in Lokoja, the Kogi State Capital, stated that the era of impunity has gone forever as the APC will not fold it hands to allow it in the state.

Akwu described the purported appointment of Senior Special Assistants by the state government to serve in 21 local government areas as illegal, unconstitutional and unacceptable.

He explained that appointments of  SSAs in place of Caretaker committees is alien to local government administration, noting that APC is a national party duly registered under law and had once dragged the state government to Court over the local government issues.

“In compliance with a Court Order made by Hon Justice Alaba Omolaiye – Ajileye, Kogi State Government has dissolved all the 21 Local Government Councils in the state on 18th December, 2014.

“A statement from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Lokoja today said the State Governor, Captain  Idris Wada approved the dissolution of the councils in compliance with the Koton-Karfe High Court Order of Wednesday, 17 December, 2014.

“The statement which directed the Council Chairmen to hand over the affairs of the Local Government Councils to their respective DLG’s today, Thursday, 18 December, 2014, also directed the DLG’s to take over the affairs of the Local Government Councils pending when another Local Government election is conducted.
