And so, I came online to confirm what is latest or perhaps trending as to kogi state and the unending staff screening and verification exercise so I trampled into the pitiful story of a suffering old woman who narrowly escaped death but alas, her ordeal was rebranded like saying a fisherman rescued fish from drowning in a river. Don’t forget, fishes are meant to live in river. The story is as follows while my lame observation shall follow.
“A pregnant woman currently in government house for the ongoing staff screening had her baby earlier today. Upon getting to the Governor’s ear, he made a stopover at the centre to felicitate with the young mother. He directed that the woman be immediately be attended to with preferential treatment so she can begin her maternity leave with all attention for her new heavenly gift. The Governor in his usual act of magnanimity gave her a sum of one million naira for the baby’s upkeep. Amidst cheers, prayers and praises from hundreds of civil servants on ground; the people’s Governor restated his commitment to fixing the state against all odds”.
Unfortunately, hypocrites and political jobbers who have lost senses of reasoning could not fathom this beyond a story that will suit their paymasters. Whereas the above narration has been fine-tune to garner sympathy for the governor, the sympathy can not come from me, God forbid! Not even the least of it. The truly Godly incident is only but an uncommon of the many blessings of God which man cannot deny.
If not, how on earth will a pregnant woman be put into such persecution. What if she had lost her live at the point of delivery? It is worthy to state clearly that what happened there is a tip of the iceberg regarding the level of untold hardship and life risk the unfortunately not ending screening has put many Kogites into. And if at all, I mean in any case; the governor been praised imply “Any Money From Alhaji Yahaya Bello Is A Death Escape Certificate” for the lactating mother and women whim have passed through the agony of labour understands well.
Over fifty percent of natal mortality, be it of the baby or mother’s death are as a result of poor medical facility and delivery administration. It is therefore unfortunate for our pregnant women who are bearing potential leaders to be put under the same stress as the one this lucky woman passed through. Our old and weak are not left out of this routine stress and long duration standing is a very detrimental activity to both these weak and old.
By and large, it is reported here above that the governor ordered an automatic clearing of the mother to the miracle baby and many other victims of the uncleared screening list will by virtue of this development wish to be in the woman’s shoes. I therefore call on the governor to instruct the appeal committee to if possible review their modalities. Unarguably, this shall go a long way easing stress.
