The Ajaokuta APC Youth Forum raises serious concern over credible reports that Hon. Lawal has allegedly purchased a PDP nomination form and held a secret political meeting in Okene with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan three days ago. If true, this signals a clear act of disloyalty while still operating within the APC.
We find it troubling that, Hon. Lawal appears to be maintaining his position in the APC only to consolidate supporters with the intention of defecting to the PDP. This reinforces long-standing fears about his inconsistent loyalty and double political games.
When Hon. Lawal defected from NNPP to join APC under the leadership of Gov Ahmed Usman Ododo, many APC faithful opposed the recognition and appointments granted to him and his supporters. Today, those same structures are being used against the party, alongside reports of obvious efforts to involve some traditional rulers to weaponize the party. Allegedly, a secret WhatsApp platform is existing where some first class monarch are gathered by Hon Lawal to work against APC, the government should beam its searchlight to unravel facts about the ongoing plots, some monarchs made voice recordings in the alleged platform.
Hon Lawal political history further raises concern. Beginning with the PDP in 2015, he defected to the APC after failing to secure a ticket and won elections under controversial circumstances because Gov Wada alledgedly supported him through the backdoor.
In 2019, former Governor Yahaya Bello supported Lawal return despite resistance. However, in 2023, Lawal abandoned APC for NNPP, where he secured barely 3,000 votes. Notably, similar voting patterns in his area favoured PDP candidates and Sen. Natasha won in his ward.
We urge His Excellency, Governor Ododo, to critically examine Hon. Lawal’s political track record. He has consistently failed to deliver his ward to the APC in gubernatorial elections—both during the tenure of former Governor Yahaya Bello and in Your Excellency’s own election—where he is alleged to have delivered his ward to the opposition instead of the APC.
Given these developments about his inconsistency and disloyalty to the party, the Forum calls on Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to urgently investigate Hon. Lawal and his aide, Hon. Dantala—an appointee alleged to be acting as a mole by coordinating with opposition figures.
Conclusively, Hon. Lawal’s actions suggest ingratitude, especially considering the political support he received from Yahaya Bello. At a time when F-GYB seeks the Kogi Central Senatorial seat, loyalty should be expected, not alleged collaboration with opposition figures like Senator Natasha.The APC must act decisively to protect its unity and integrity from moles and internal sabotage.
