Another Lawmaker Defects to APC With Thousands of Supporters in Kogi

Another wave of defection hit the Kogi state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday as some of its  leaders and supporters led by the member representing Lokoja 2 constituency in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Idris Ndako decamps to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors were received by the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who was represented by his Deputy, Elder Simon Achuba.
Bello expressed gladness at the number of eminent persons who decided to joined APC. He described Ndako as a grassroot politician whose defection to APC nailed has the coffin of the opposition PDP in Lokoja 2 constituency.
He announced that the Owara- Kakanda- Kupa road would be included in the 2018 budget and appealed to the people of Lokoja 2 constituency to support the policy of new direction.
Chief of staff to the Governor, Mr Edward Onoja in his goodwill message congratulated the people of Lokoja 2 constituency for having Hon. Idris Ndako as their representative.
Onoja, who was overwhelmed with the turn out. said; “today, the APC has made a big catch which brought to an end the remnant of PDP in Lokoja 2 constituency.
“You will all recall that Hon. Ndako contested under the platform of PDP and won despite the Buhari tsunami. By joining the moving train it’s obvious that the man is a grassrooter and a human mobiliser,” he said.
Chairman of the party in Lokoja Local Government, Hon. Haruna Isah said Hon. Ndako is not defecting, but rather he’s coming back to where he belonged.
“Ndako was a member of CPC, he contested under the platform of the party and there’s no deference between the APC and the CPC, that’s why I said he’s more at home now”
Speaking on behalf of other defectors at St. Peter Primary School, Felele, Hon. Ndako said they decided to leave PDP for the APC because the party had failed to appreciate his contributions and that of his followers across the constituency.
“We decided to abandon the PDP because of the injustice perpetrated by some leaders of the party. We will not allow them to deprive our people from benefiting from the dividends of democracy. We have no  regret leaving the PDP to  were our people would be included in the scheme of things.
“We believe in the masses and insist that the right things must be done. This present government is more  independent of itself and working towards  development of the state, as such, we decided to defect so that we can benefit from the development stride of the present administration,” he said.
He noted that it would have been worse if the APC did not provide a better alternative for politicians.
“I joined the APC with thousands of my supporters. With today’s events, only the carcass of the PDP remains in Lokoja 2 constituency. Come 2019, Lokoja 2 constituency will be delivered to the APC,” he added.
He described his defection as a fulfilment of his dreams and promised to use his structures to work and win elections for the APC.
The chief Administrator of Lokoja Local Government, Hon. Shiru Lawal, described Hon. Idris Ndako, as a leader who had not shied away from taking responsibility in leading up-and-coming politicians on the right path.
Shiru said with the defection of Hon. Ndako, it is obvious that more PDP faithfuls across Lokoja Local Government Area would join the ruling All Progressive Congress.
“APC came into existence and barely one year after they dethroned the PDP. No matter how strong you are if death comes you must go and that was the lot of PDP,”  he said.
He announced that the party would conduct its affairs in Lokoja Local Government with all civility, adding that his administration would not relent in it efforts to provide the infrastructural development for the benefit of citizenry.
The ceremony was attended by former Deputy Director General, Prince Abubakar Audu Campaign Organization, Hon. Saidu Akawu Salihu, the administrator of Kogi Local Government, Special advisers and a host of others.
