In a bid to operate open and transparent government, and also provide a place for youths in his administration, the executive chairman of Ankpa local government council, Hon. Ibrahim Abagwu has inaugurated Ika District Youth Association (IDYA) and urged them to be an ambassador of peace to their various communities.
Abagwu, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mustapha Adams Aikoye, charged them to to stay out of trouble and serve as ambassadors of peace and good governance across the district.
According to him, the recognition of official platforms across the various wards within the council through which the youths can express their views, give constructive criticisms, and participate effectively in the decision making processes of his administration is key.
He said “you can report any suspicious acts to the appropriate quarters, with peace and orderliness your needs will be gradually met.”
Kogi State Deputy Speaker, Hon. Ahmed Muhammed, commended the youths and charged them to throw their unrelenting support behind Governor Yahaya Bello’s 2023 presidential bid.
“I will get in touch with the executive chairman and the councillor representing Enjema ward IV over the state of the primary health center because health is wealth and the people deserve more”.
In his remarks, Hon. Shittu Alhassan, Councillor representing Enjema Ward-IV, stated that this initiative is the first of its kind and promised to use the platform to serve his people better.
“The platform must be seen as an object of unification by the youths inline with the executive chairman’s effort towards encouraging the youths to shun cultism, kidnapping and all unlawful activities towards fostering the existing peace and tranquillity being enjoyed in Ika communities.”
