Ankpa: Ahmed Mohammed Flags Off Water Project for Ikanekpo Community

The member representing Ankpa 1 constituency and the Deputy majority leader of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Honourable Ahmed Mohammed has flagged off the construction of water project for the people of Ikanekpo community in Ankpa LGA.

The flag-off took the community by surprise, as he was invited to commission a motor park which was built by the youths of Ikanekpo community.

Speaking at the event, the lawmaker disclosed that this project has become necessary due to several requests by residents of the community. He assured them that the drilling will commence soonest.

Commending him of his effort, the Onu-Ikanekpo, Mallam Hassan Omayuwa, said they have requested for assistance from the State Government through the honourable commissioner for rural development to rehabilitate or construct a new water project, but they have not gotten a positive response.

“Our people are mostly farmers, we produce the highest quantity of red oil in Kogi State and people patronise us from other states. We need water for effective production and for our survival too. We have submitted a letter to the commissioner since last year and up till this minute, nothing has been done. We thank you earnestly for coming to our aid”, he said.

Honourable Ahmed used the occasion to thank the people of Ikanekpo for their support and assured them dividends of democracy reaching the grassroots. He enjoined them to be patient with the state government as he describe the state undergoing “positive transformation and change”.

Honourable Ahmed Mohammed was also honoured with an award of excellence by the Igala Students Association, Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi as the best state legislator due to his contributions on the floor of the house, humanitarian services, physical development and for touching lives positively.
