Ankpa 2023 Reps Race: Hon. Halims Emerges APC Candidate in Landslide Victory

A serving member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on Steel Development, Rep. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims has been elected as the flag bearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Announcing the results, the APC returning officer, Hon. Muhammed Gambo Haruna declared Hon. Halims as the winner with a total of 169 votes to defeat his closest and only opponent, Hon. Abel Egbita who scored zero vote.

Rep who was elected as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Ankpa Federal Constituency was a former Member of the Kogi State House of Assembly between 2007 and 2011. He later became the Chairman of Kogi State Water Board and Chairman of the Kogi State Elders Advisory Council for Ankpa Federal Constituency between 2012 to 2014 and 2017 to 2018 respectively.

Hon. Halims has sponsored several bills and motions of both his Constituency and National importance since his assumption of office as a member of the ninth National Assembly. He equally facilitated a multi million naira gully erosion control/drainage at Ejinya-Efofe in Ankpa Local Government Area as well as the construction of about twenty five solar powered boreholes.

The Lawmaker recently carried out a two hundred and sixty million naira worth empowerment in addition his provision of solar powered street lights across the Federal Constituency, asphalt overlay of Ojede to Liberia linkage road in Ankpa, facilitation of Federal pensionable jobs and other life impacting endeavors.

With the emergence of Hon. Halims as the All Progressives Congress(APC)’s standard flag bearer for the 2023 general election, the ruling party’s fortune to maintain the constituency’s seat in the next four years has unarguably being guaranteed for a good term surely deserves another.

Highlights of the one hundred and sixty nine (169) delegates’ votes of the three Local Government Areas, scored by both aspirants in the primary election conducted at Ankpa Governor’s lodge shows that:

Valid Votes — 163

Invalid Votes — 6

Hon. Halims — 163

Hon. Egbita — 0
