AN APPEAL FOR FUND RAISING TO ASSIST THE LESS PRIVILEGED STUDENTS IN OKUNLAND.
The National Student body under the umbrella of National Association of Okun Students (NAOS) wish to raise our concern to the dwindling level of education in our land.
It is sad to note that Okun land popularly known as abode of brilliant scholars is gradually loosing its popularity.
A critical look into causes of this mind disturbing issue revealed that finance has contributed to cases of many students dropping out of schools.
In a State where Parents and Guardian were owed bulk of salaries unpaid, in a state where economic activities is gradually crumbling because civil servants are not paid regularly.
Many final year students in the secondary schools couldn’t register for Senior School Certificate Examinations (WAEC),because their parents couldn’t afford the payment. Many of them couldn’t sit for Joint Admission Matriculation Examination (JAMB), because the funds are not available. Many students of tertiary institutions have to engage in menial jobs before they could fees at school, many couldn’t continue schooling because of unavailability of funds to cater for tuition. The number of idle youths keeps increasing as a result of this ugly obstacle.
The solutions to this unfortunate situation we find ourselves is not far fetched.
However, this letter is an appeal to all our elected political office holders in Okunland. We have five members of the state assembly in which we are privileged to to have the speaker from our zone, two members of the House of Representatives, and a Senator, Its sad that we live in the midst of plenty but still live poor.
We hereby suggest a platform should be formed to raise fund to assist these category of less privileged. We urge these elected political office holders to contribute towards the realisation of this project.
Let’s use this medium to remind you all that if not for the privilege you had, many of you wouldn’t have the opportunity of assuming these juicy offices today.
Contributing towards this project will add value to our society than spending money on unrealistic empowerments and squandering money during elections.
Remember, “destroying any nation does not require the use of atomic bombs or the use of long range missile, it only requires lowering the quality of education”.
Please assist the needy in this difficult period.
Thanks.
Long Live Okun Land.
Long Live National Association of Okun Students (NAOS)
Yours in Struggle,
Comrade Ajagun Opeyemi Samuel (Okun Boy)
NAOS National President
