Comrade Usman Okai Austin has advised former governorship aspirant and All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart in Kogi state, Alhaji jibrin Isa Echocho not to succumb to pressure from Kogi governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to convince him to contest the 2019 Kogi east senatorial seat under his faction of APC.
Okai, who gave the admonition in statement released in Abuja, stated that any attempt to drag the popular ex-banker and political heavyweight from Kogi east by Gov. Bello will drag his popularity to the mud.
Comrade Okai said the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello was becoming unpopular day in day out and needed a political shield that will guarantee him another term that will inflict more pains and hardship on the people.
The social crusader warned the popular politician on the consequences of succumbing to Bello’s overtures which will be tantamount to him been politically ostracized by the people. He wondered why Echocho that was not fit to be Gov. Bello’s Deputy is now suddenly fit for senate.
He said there was nothing wrong for Jibrin Echocho to realise his political ambition on another platform rather than Governor Bello’s APC. However, he warned that the alleged romance will amount to a political suicide when in agreement with the group of the governor who had instill a lot of pains on the people
Comrade Okai stressed the need for the popular politician to study the terrain of Kogi politics so as to balance the equation to avoid the mistakes and misfortunes of the past, stating that Governor Bello is out of the current order when discussing future political arrangement in Kogi having failed the masses.
Okai insisted Echocho can still be Governor of Kogi state as God has the final decision of human affairs.
