The United Labour Congress (ULC) has called on Kogi State State Government to punish those involved in the N4.3 billion pension fraud in the state.

In a press statement made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Sunday, the Kogi State Chairman of ULC, Comrade Simeon Opaluwa urged the state government to go beyond publishing the names of offenders.

He decried the activities of fraudulent officials in the state government, whose actions, he said, has caused others untold hardship.

“We in the Kogi State Council of United Labour Congress condemn the criminal act of few individuals who have chosen to defraud and deprive the pensioners their entitlement in strong terms.

“We urge the state government not to stop at publishing the name of such criminal elements so as to shame them, but the most appropriate sanction should be meted out on them,” he said.

Opaluwa assured workers that ULC will continue to defend their rights and agitate for improved welfare.

He appealed to the state government to source out funds to defray accumulated pension arrears from 2015 to date.
