Alaafin Oyo’s Demise a Painful Reality – Kogi Governor

Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello has expressed deep sadness over the death of the highly revered Alaafin of Oyo, late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi stating that the demise of the traditional ruler at the age of 83 was a painful reality.

The death of the monarch according to reports occurred in the late hours of Friday at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.

Governor Bello in a condolence message on Saturday, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Muhammed Onogwu noted that the Nation has lost one of its most iconic and experienced traditional ruler having ruled for 52 years.

He noted that the traditional ruler in his lifetime distinguished himself as a true leader, who pursued the peace, unity and development of his people adding that without mincing words late Oba Lamidi was such a patriotic Nigerian.

Governor Bello condoled with the Government and the people of Oyo state noting that not only had they lost a father but at such a critical period urging them to take solace in the remarkably fulfilled life of the late traditional head.

He similarly extended his commiseration to the Alowodu Ruling House and the immediate family of the Alaafin while he prayed for God to grant the monarch, eternal rest and those mourning the fortitude to bear the loss.
