The Director General of Toyin Akanle Campaign Organisation, Prince Dayo Akanmode has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for encouraging all aggrieved aspirants in the recently conducted All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections to seek redress in court.
Akanmode gave the commendation in a press statement made available to journalists in Lokoja on Tuesday.
He described President Buhari’s action as a very good development for APC and the aggrieved aspirants who feltĀ  cheated.
“This is a very good development for APC. The President encouraging aggrieved party members to ventilate their grievances in the court of law instead of resulting to violence, anti-party activities or other self help is a welcome development. This will further create a sense of belonging for members of the party that were traumatized and humiliated in the last primaries.
“Unfortunately, the party lacks the necessary internal democracy mechanism to address loads of anomalies that characterized the last primaries with aggrieved candidates looking helpless because they can not get justice. To add insult to the injury, they are now threatening those who want to go to court to ventilate their grievances.
“Added to this is the activities of some party members, instead of appealing to the aggrieved aspirants, they resulted to name calling, praise singing and outright character assassination with the aim of benefiting from a dangerous precedence that can eventually lead to abysmal failure at the polls.
“You can not build on a faulty foundation. An Ibo adage says no matter how long you have gone on a long road if you don’t retrace your steps you may never get to your destination,” he said.
Recall that Dr. Toyin Akanle, an aspirant in the recently conducted Kogi West APC senatorial primary election kicked against the process which he described as shambolic.
