Ahead of November governorship election, a former national president of Okun Students Union, Ajagun Opeyemi Samuel has cautioned all political leaders in Kogi state on propagation of fake news and hate speeches.

Ajagun made this submission at a meeting in Lokoja on Saturday while challenging some of the political party posters that carry divisive words. He also noted that some followers of political leaders are grossly engaged in disseminating fake news through fake bloggers.

He wondered why nobody is talking about the development and growth of the state rather propagating fallacious publications and hate speech that is capable of causing upheaval in the society.

“We need to focus on things that matter to us especially the welfare of the people. The unemployment rate is increasing daily, our roads are not so good and our educational system is collapsing day by day and nobody is saying anything about these. Even the state government is caught in playing a blame games,” he said.

Ajagun, who is known for his doggedness and credibility, also challenged security agencies in the state to sanction or arrest any individual, association or party that preach negativism within the state.

He warned against vote buying and violence during the electioneering period, urging the political players to be peaceful.
