We have reached a point of our political development in this dispensation where the desire to thread softly particularly our utterances and vituperation need to be guarded in line with the best practices and to protect the sacredness and sanctity of our democratic norms.
It will be a complete juxtaposition and disservice on the part of writers of this magnitude of piece, to endeavour to make such a laborious indictment against a serving two term senator and two term member of the house of representatives, who ordinarily is supposed to be the custodian of democratic practice now nicknamed the other way to drive home cheap political points.
Was it an omission or commission, adventure or fulfilled ambition for Kogi East Senator to have represented the area in the 8 years, and another 8years at the lower house cumulatively, that was his bane and undoing ?
I stand to be corrected and challenge anyone to any public debates on events in the last 16 years of senator Atai Aidoko political stewardship in Kogi East.
We have written a lot on the political mandate given to Kogi East senator using the best practices of democratic ideals in over a decade and posterity had it on record that much have been achieved in all ramifications, as it will amount to an overflogged issues when we kept reminding the Kogi East public that senator Atai Aidoko Ali’s political achievement is adored everywhere, except he is the type that conventionally will not blow his trumpet.
Is there any justification that Kogi East senator did not provide employment opportunities and made available letters of recommendation for absorption and re-absorption into various agencies of government, parastatatls and commissions to ameliorate the suffering of the teeming Kogi East indigenes? Any contrary view is not tenable.
It is only in senator Atai Aidoko stint at the red chamber that humility is displayed at its full glare by his actions and reactions to many people from Kogi East, who daily thronged his office for one recommendation letter or the other, that trend was unlike what happened when former Kogi East leaders held sway.
As the custodian of democratic practice, senator Aidoko has used his office as a rallying point for other representatives at the lower house of the national assembly and by extension the state assembly members from Kogi East to chart the way forward in quest for a virile and people centred ideas and ideals.
Senator Aidoko Ali had displayed alot of patriotic zeal, particularly in an uneasy atmosphere of crises and self inflicted attacks by the leaders at the state level, to bring all shades of opinions into one fold that will move the area forward in terms of development and political emancipation.
Kogi East senator in his volition, action and coalition did a lot to convene diverse groups from Kogi East into one fold to brainstorm on the way forward as the group consists of retired and serving academia, politicians of high repute, women groups, opinion moulders and leaders, youths and youth groups, civil society groups, public spirited individuals to address the menace that is bedeviling the area from all sectors of our national life.
All these ingredients are veritable tools for a stable democratic process and advancement which senator Atai Aidoko had gallantly stood for in the cause of his representation both at the lower and upper chambers, and with no intentions to renege subsequently. So, let’s not be distracted on his return to the Senate has been peddled by political naysayers, as he will do more from his antecedents.
