For the second time in one week, the former chairman of the staff verification and screening committee, Alhaji Yakubu Okala has failed to honour the decision of the house inviting him to submit the screening report during Wednesday’s plenary.

Recall that the house on Tuesday 24th January 2017, ordered the clerk to re-write another letter intimating him (Okala) of the resolution of the hallow chamber, little did they know that their August visitor will not oblige their request.

Not satisfied with this development, the Speaker Umar Imam after acknowledging the observations raised by Sunday Shigaba  (PDP, Bassa), he informed the members on a letter sent to the hallow chamber by the Special Assistant to the Governor on legislative and assembly matter Barrister Haruna Yusuf whom the letter was routed through.

In the letter,  the special assistant had said he received the subject matter today (Wednesday) at about 8:50am expressing regret that he was unable to deliver the letter to the recipient who is not available.

He appealed on his behalf to reschedule the former chairman for another legislative date to enable him deliver the letter to him.

In his reaction to the letter, Barrister Oluwatoyin Lawal (PDP, Yagba West) expressed worries that the present administration in recent time has failed to adopt the resolution taken by Honourable members during plenary.

The lawmaker however  was not satisfied that the special assistant to the governor had replied the assembly on behalf Alhaji Okala while the majority leader Mathew Kolawole enjoined the members to withdraw the letter and  rewrite another one to reinvite  him to not only submit a copy of the report personally to the house next week Tuesday.

Ruling on the matter, the Speaker called for the withdrawal of the letter as suggested by Honorable Sunday Shigaba (PDP, Bassa) and also directed the clerk to draft another letter inviting the former chairman to submit the report during Tuesday sitting of 31st January 2017.
