The acting Chairperson of Okene Local Government, Hon. Bilkisu Aliyu has presented a proposed budget to the legislative council for approval.
Presenting the budget proposal on Friday, Aliyu described the budget as one that speaks hope to the aspiration of the people and enjoined the council legislator to ensure speedy consideration.
She reiterated the importance of the budget to the people of Okene local government as it signifies the foundation and activities for the next one year.
“The year 2022 estimates is going to be premised on consolidation and continuation of the gains of 2021 budget with view of complementing the state government’s efforts in transforming the economic and human infrastructural development of the local government area, in line with this present regime’s New Direction blueprint.
“The proposed year 2022 budget estimates will prioritise general solidification of the ongoing economic, social, health and education projects in various parts of the local government area,” she said.
According to the council chairperson, Okene LGA’s projected share of federal allocation is N2,197,524,195; revenue accruable from value added tax (VAT) is N831,604,422 while the council hopes to generate N32,742,743 as independent revenue, taking the total projected revenue to N3,061,971,360.
The budget estimates proposed N1,739,304,830 for recurrent expenditure and N1,322,666,530 for capital expenditure in 2022.
