Administrative Governance, Not Family Affair

We cannot pretend and fold our arms that nothing is happening on issues concerning governance and the implementation of governmental policies. As concerned citizens, we must actively get involved on the process which we are been governed and when public office holders get it wrong, we begin to ask questions like; do they put the populace interest first?, don’t they (public office holders) know what administration or governance really entails?.
This writeup is motivated by two English proverbs, that say “You cannot eat your cake and still have it”, secondly, “As you make your bed, so you lay on it”.
It’s unfortunate that in this part of the world, politics is taken most times as a dirty game that cannot be played on a level playing ground  with love and the spirit of oneness in the struggle to get into power and regrettable that the Nigerian state is characterized with weak governmental institutions, leaders who lack self esteem, integrity, sincerity and are self centered, bent on wealth acquisition at the expense of their subjects. And the youths who hold the lion’s share in the process of choosing and replacing government (Election) are used for nothing but political instruments to actualize the interest of some of the selfish politicians at the expense of their future.
It is very important we respect and pray for our leaders, and in doing that, if there is a need to draw their attentions to critical issues as they affect the welfare of the people, we should not be too emotional about that and shy away from the truth because of what you stand to benefit as an individual not the masses.
It this part of the world, we are emotionally attached to sentiments and the opinions of the public about public office holders, if he (politician) is your friend or relative, he is performing and representing the interest of the people, he is good, but, if he is not, one should not be attacked physically or on the media because he/she raised an opinion against your friend or relative in government. Violence or self help in defending mediocrity just because the person is your god is dangerous to the society and self destructive.
Leaders are public office holders, if the people who gave them mandates are been victimized for airing  their opinions and views, who then should be allowed?,  the bourgeois?, then we got it wrong.
Youths participate in politics just to look for those who will criticize their boss on media, or who to victimize and get a fish from politicians and most times as political thugs.
My advice is that, if you cannot say the truth maybe because you are emotionally attached to the person either he is your relative or your friend and felt it may create a kind of dimension or bridge into the relationship that existed between you both, then do not victimize others who you know that  are saying the truth to get token from your boss as a way of showing an unholy loyalty, there are other ways to get money from politicians, not victimization or violence because your man would not be there for life and you would be left for your fate when he leaves office.
Best Regards.
