David Itopa, Deputy National Welfare Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has congratulated Senator Dino Melaye on his appointment as Deputy Director-General, Contact and Mobilisation, of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council.
In a press statement issued Friday, Itopa described the appointment as a recognition of Melaye’s extensive political experience, grassroots engagement and capacity to connect with diverse stakeholders across the country.
“This appointment is a recognition of his extensive political experience, grassroots engagement and capacity to connect with diverse stakeholders across the country,” Itopa said, adding that Melaye’s experience in politics and public service would be valuable as the ADC prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
As Deputy Director-General in charge of Contact and Mobilisation, Melaye is expected to strengthen engagement between the campaign organisation and Nigerians across the country’s various constituencies. Itopa noted that the role carries significant responsibility, particularly given the need for effective coordination, communication and stakeholder engagement throughout the electoral process.
“I am confident that Senator Dino Melaye will bring his wealth of experience, energy and commitment to this assignment,” he said.
Itopa also framed the appointment as an opportunity for the ADC to deepen its engagement with Nigerians at the grassroots and across different sectors of society, describing political mobilisation as ultimately about listening to citizens, communicating ideas and building constructive relationships with them as stakeholders.
He commended the leadership of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council for recognising Melaye’s capacity and entrusting him with the responsibility, and, on behalf of himself, his family and his office, wished the senator success in his new role.
Itopa urged Melaye to continue deploying his experience and political networks toward strengthening the structures and objectives of the campaign council.
