Adama Extols Igala Nations Cup

Grassroots football exponent and former Head of Marketing of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Comrade Adama Idris has harped on the essence of the just concluded Igala Nations Cup saying  it is a most veritable means of annexing, showcasing and developing talents in the region.
Igala land is located in eastern part of Kogi State with nine (9) local government areas consisting of Ankpa, Bassa, Dekina,  Idah, Ibaji, Igalamela/Odolu, Ofu, Omala and Olamaboro.
Adama while speaking at the final of the tournament which Ankpa won by beating Igalamela Odolu by 2-0 appealed to the people of Igala extraction to back the project.
The project muted in 2016 he said “Is created as a needed platform for talents that abound in the region, with the sole aim of keeping restive youths off the streets and engaging them gainfully.”
According to him, the project is endorsed by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Euro Data SPORTIVE based in London is partnering, with technical support coming from New Africa Soccer, United Soccer Africa based in Atalanta, Georgia.
“Our region has had great clubs like Ankpa Leopards, Bassa United, Dekina Dragons and Idah United.
“There is the need to revive the clubs, we have equally produced great talents before and now and hope to consolidate on it,” Adama said.
Some Igala Football legends  are former Super Eagles player Abdul Sule, now President of Kogi United FC and Confluence Queens.
Godwin Obaje, 2016 top scorer in the Nigeria elite League now with FC Ifeanyi Ubah, his elder brother Joshua Obaje is with Plateau United.
John Onuh John of Nasarawa United, Abubakar Musa former junior International, Sabo Okala ex- BCC Lions and Niger Tornadoes, now assistant coach at Confluence Queens; Wilfred Ammeh MFM, Salisu Ogbe Kogi United, Henry Ameh, Team Manager Kogi United, former Katsina United and Gombe United’s striker, Abraham Idoko and Stephen Musa current captain of Kogi United.
Ankpa Football team won this year’s edition after beating Igala Mela 2-0.
