Activist Calls for Communal Efforts to Repair Road Leading to House of Assembly, High Courts in Lokoja

The Executive Director, Centre for human Rights and conflict Resolution (CHRCR), Comrade Idris Miliki Abdul has called on residents to join hands and contribute resources to repair the dilapidated Hassan Katsina road in Lokoja, Kogi state capital.

He stated that if nothing meaningful can be achieved by the state government and relevant institutions, residents should raise money through contribution to repair some of the bad portions on the road.

In a statement issued in Lokoja on Monday, the activist the sorry state of the road leading to the State House of Assembly, headquarters of State Judiciary, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Federal High Court, FERMA Office, and a host of other important institutions.

“This all important road hosts the Zone 8 Police Command Headquarters, the Central Bank of Nigeria, the State Headquarters of the State Security Services, the State House of Assembly, the Headquarters of the Judiciary, Customs, and the Confluence Stadium.

“It is worrisome that such important road can be left in such dilapidated condition.

“We call on the the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to intervene, through their corporate social responsibilities, to ameliorate the embarrassing situation the road is causing these institutions, particularly the ones owned by federal government.

“Now, it is raining period, the usual flooding have commenced subjecting the pupils, students, workers, residents and tax payers in the state to untold hardship,” he said.

The Hassan Katsina road, from Zone 8 roundabout to Crusher, is unarguably one of the worst roads in Lokoja.
