An Appellate Court sitting in Abuja has orderd the immediate reinstatement of sacked council chairmen and councillors in Kogi State.
The chairmen and councillors headed to the court after the councils were dissolved through an order of a High Court in Kogi State.
Ruling on the case earlier today, the Appeal Court ordered the immediate reinstatement of the council officers to complete their legitimate term of three years.
Some of the Chairmen who spoke to Vanguard expressed joy at the judgement and hailed it as victory for democracy.
The case which was instituted against the State Government over the constitution of the State Independent Electoral Commission by the APC led to the sack of the council helmsmen.
Kogi State Government had challenged the judgement to ensure the reinstatement of the council chairmen and with the ruling of the appeal court, the APC may decide to appeal the ruling at the supreme court.
