The management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has promised to correct all the irregularities relating to arbitrary electricity charges in kogi state.
Executive Director of the company in charge of regulatory and stakeholders affairs, Mr. Abimbola Odubiyi made the pledge during an interactive session with customers held in Lokoja. He explained that the company is making frantic efforts to solve all the problems inherited from the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
According to him, “very soon customers in kogi state will soon enjoyed uninterrupted power supply, no more crazy bill and better service in the years ahead, we in AEDC are not happy with the issue of crazy bill, we have updated our data base and equipments and I can assured you all that all issues relating to crazy bill will be a thing of the past”.
Also speaking, the Executive Director in charge of risk and compliance, Mr. Collins Chabaka appealed to citizens of the state to desist from selling or building under high tension wires, noting that, “such act is a big risk and it can lead to untimely dead of those involved in such practices”.
He warned residents not to tamper with electricity equipments and to avoid illegal connection of electricity, stressing that all electrical faults should be reported to officials of the company for prompt action.
THISDAY observed that most of the customers who spoke during the interactive session complained of paying estimated bills on electricity. Some of the customers alleged they pay exorbitant bills for energy they did not use; incessant power outage, damaged transformers and bad electricity poles within the metropolis.
Also, the customers urged the management of the company to address the issue of crazy bill and employ more staff to read metres, which will go along way to reduce over estimation of bills.
