Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has warned Local Government Administrators in the state against frivolous trips away from their respective domains.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Momodu Salami Ozigi, the Governor has directed that any Administrator who fail to remain in his local government risks suspension.

Ozigi explained that the directive is part of measures put in place by the state government to tackle security breaches at the grassroots, insisting that Council Administrators must remain at their duty post to nip any uprising in their domains in the bud.

The commissioner said Governor Bello is security conscious and will not leave any stone unturned to ensure safety of lives in property in his second term in office.

He maintained that government has already put some measures in place to monitor the Council helmsmen, stating that erring administrators will be sanctioned.

In a related development, Barr. Ozigi said as part of measures to tackle security challenges, Governor Bello has directed the administrators to arrest any unauthorized self-acclaimed traditional ruler, adding that such persons must be handed over to the Directorate of State Security (DSS) for prosecution.

The commissioner explained that some of the security breaches in Local Government Areas emanates from chieftaincy tussles. He said a situation where unauthorized persons now parade themselves as traditional rulers has compounded security problems at the grassroots.

The commissioner further stated that the governor, from the inception of his administration, placed security as his number one priority adding that all hands must be on deck to consolidate on the existing peace in the state.

While responding to the commissioner’s address, Kogi State Chairman of ALGON, Alhaji Taofiq Isah said the Local Government Administrators are prepared to carry out their duties at the grassroots with due diligence.

He assured the commissioner that they will continue to work with the letter and spirit of the new direction administration of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello.
