Abducted Kogi Varsity Professor Regains Freedom

The abducted Dean of Management Sciences in Kogi State University (KSU) Anyigba, Professor John Alabi, has regained freedom.

The Kogi State command of the Nigeria Police confirmed this on Sunday.

The Police said Professor Alabi regained freedom on Saturday night after six days in captivity.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP William Ovye Aya, made the confirmation, saying Alabi has been reunited with his family.

According to the PPRO, the Police swung into action immediately after the lecturer was kidnapped and ensured that he was released unhurt.

Aya added that three other persons; Chief Idoko Emmanuel and Paul Onoja of Emonoja village in Olamaboro local government area of Kogi state, and one Miss Blessing Akoh who was shot on her leg at Enugu Ezike road of Emonoja village, were also rescued.

He said Police operatives attached to Olamaboro Division, led by the DPO immediately swung into action, mobilized his men and with the assistance of local vigilante pursued hoodlums into the bush and at about 0600hrs of yesterday. He said the kidnappers abandoned their captives and fled.

He added that the victims were rescued unhurt, while the injured victim is currently on admission and efforts still on going to arrest culprits.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Idrisu Dauda Dabban, called on members of the public to continue to partner with the security agencies in the ongoing onslaught against criminal elements in the state.
