National Honours: Hon Salman Idris Congratulates Prof Dare Olatunji, Dapo Olorunyomi

Member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Honourable Salman Idris, has congratulated two prominent members of his constituency, Prof. Dare Olatunji and Mr. Dapo Olorunyomi, on their well-deserved national honours of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) and Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), respectively.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had, during his Democracy Day address at the National Assembly, announced the decision of his government to honour Prof. Olatunji with the national honour of CON and Mr. Dapo Olorunyomi with the national honour of OON.

Prof. Olatunji is a renowned journalist and scholar, a highly revered columnist, and former Chairman of the Editorial Board of The Guardian newspaper. He hails from Kabba in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State. He has dedicated his life to journalism and speaking truth to power when the need arises.

Mr. Dapo Olorunyomi is the publisher of the renowned online newspaper, Premium Times. He has dedicated his life to investigative journalism for many years. Mr. Dapo Olorunyomi hails from Ayegunle Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

In a statement, Hon. Salman described Prof. Olatunji and Mr. Dapo Olorunyomi’s contributions to our democratic growth and sustainability as invaluable, a feat that has earned them a national honour.

He expressed his warmest congratulations to the duo and hoped that this national honour would serve as a catalyst for further contributions to our democratic development.
