Comrade Sunday Bala Oma has counseled Nigerian politicians to focus on alleviating the pains of the masses, rather than dissipating their energy on the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the Sunday Bala Oma Foundation 15th Annual Seminar for Transformation of Nigeria (STN 2025) with the Theme: ‘The Nigeria We Seek, The Nation We Yearn For’ held in Jos, Plateau state, at the weekend, Comrade Oma expressed gratitude to God and all those who have been part of the NGO’s success story.
While welcoming the unprecedented audience that graced the occasion, Bala Oma pointed out 10 excerpts that formed the basis for his speech:

- It’s an abysmal primal thought for those in position and those in opposition to make 2027 election a priority, at the expense of the pains the masses are going through at this time.
- It’s the highest level of insensitivity and irresponsibility for leaders at all levels, to treat with kid gloves, the current poverty and unemployment being experienced by the citizens, while they take the debate for the next election to the next level.
- Those that one’s held positions and benefitted from same. Should invest those huge resources to alleviate the pains and penury of the masses, rather than bordering us with the next election at this time.
- Having four refineries with billions of naira sunk into same, with no hope in sigh, of producing 200,000 barrels per day, is a concern yearning for answers.
- With our debt profile at 144 trillion naira and a population of about 228 million. Each Nigerian, without borrowing a penny, owe 631, 578 naira as compared to 521,000 naira when I spoke last year in a Conference at Merit House Abuja, exactly 6 months ago (23rd Nov 2024).
- Nothing is wrong with political positions. But everything is wrong with the people in positions.
- Those that have never served or led or worked anywhere are part of those championing good governance for 2027. This is a joke, taken too far. While others abandon their duty post, all in the name of preparing for the next election. Sadly, God does not use unserious and idle folks.
- At Sunday Bala Oma Foundation, the idea is to build a formidable Team of experts, technocrats, astute leaders across the Globe by 2030, that will ensure a complete turnaround of our leadership ethics and governance structure..
- Through pains, groans and great sacrifices are nations built with enduring legacies. We must consistently dare to contribute our quota.
- Don’t get it twisted. For God is the One who works in us, both to will and do, of His good pleasure. We are nothing but “channels only”… He concluded by giving hope to the younger generation, whom he referred to as THE NEXT SETS OF LEADERS.
The Seminar is an annual program that is designed to promote good governance, and quality education in Nigeria
Ms Precious Ukaegbu, a fellow and beneficiary of the Foundation, who is resident in the United States anchored the program.
