Kogi LG House of Assembly Seat: Zoning Agreement Not Up for Negotiation – Girinya Ward APC Stakeholders

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Girinya, Kogi local government of Kogi state, has made their position known on the raging issue related to the zoning arrangement of the area’s House of Assembly seat.

This was made known by Hon. Abdullahi Suleiman Idowu, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Road Maintenance and the Leader of APC in Girinya ward of Kogi LGA after a stakeholders meeting.

He emphasized that the zoning agreement, which dictates the rotation of the seat among various zones and wards, is a long-standing tradition that must be respected.

He state that the good people of Girinya ward in zone A of Kogi LGA has no plans to alter the zoning agreement which ensures representation from different wards contrary to speculations.

He stressed that any attempts to change the agreement would undermine the democratic process and the will of the people.

Regarding the incumbent’s plans for a second term, Hon. Idowu revealed that the people of Girinya Ward, where the incumbent representative hails from, are not in support of the bid. He cited that the incumbent member came onboard as a result of the zoning arrangement and as such must respect the laid down zoning agreement.

He further reaffirmed his commitment to upholding democratic principles and respecting the zoning agreement. He urged all stakeholders to prioritize the interests of the people and adhere to the established traditions of the zoning system in Kogi Local Government.

The stakeholders meeting aimed to clarify the situation and reassure constituents that the zoning agreement remains intact.
