ODA Launches Website, Okun Job Centre to Empower Youths

The Okun Development Association (ODA) on Wednesday launched the Okun Job Centre in Lokoja, Kogi state capital.

ODA also launched its interactive website at the event.

In a statement issued by Dayo Thomas, the National Publicity Secretary of ODA, the job centre aims to empower Okun youths by bridging the gap in access to labor market information and providing opportunities for young people.

The statement explained that Okun Job Centre’s key objectives includes, providing opportunities for young people to access job market information and employment opportunities, bridging the gap in access to labor market information and enabling youths to make informed decisions about their careers.

“It will also foster community growth and development by empowering youths with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed,” he said.

The ODA President-General, Ambassador Akenson Rotimi, encouraged Okun youths to utilize the Centre’s resources and benefits, expressing optimism that it would positively impact their lives.

“By launching the website and Okun Job Centre, ODA has taken a significant step towards empowering Okun youths and promoting community development. This initiative has the potential to be a game-changer for the community, providing access to job opportunities and labor market information that can help youths succeed,” the President said.

Speaking at the event, Commander Jerry Duro Omodara (rtd), State Security Adviser, emphasized that youth unemployment significantly contributes to insecurity and that initiatives like the Okun Job Centre can help reduce young people’s involvement in crime.

In his goodwill message, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Student Affairs, Amb. Oladele John Nihi said the initiative aligns with Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo administration’s youth empowerment and transformative agenda.
