A former zonal leader of All Progressives Congress, Hon Ahmed Attah, has been elected Chairman Kogi State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Alhaji Idris Sofada emerged State Secretary of the party at the elective state congress held at the SDP State secretariat in Lokoja on Wednesday.
3,890 delegates from across the 21 local government areas in Kogi state participated in the congress that produced a 12-member executive. The congress was monitored by officers from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The new executives were immediately sworn in.

In his inaugural address, the newly elected state chairman promised to be fair and just in their duties.
He thanked the INEC officials who were in attendance, which to him, had further attested to the fact that “SDP is a peaceful and law abiding party”.
“Every authorities who contributed to the success of the Congress is commended, most especially, the INEC officials for their patriotism and commitment to good election in Nigeria, likewise the planning committee, the electoral committee and the security personnel are commended for their good job.
“The successful conduct of this congress has further positioned SDP as the party to beat in the 2028 governorship election in Kogi State.”

Sofada, Secretary (Lokoja LGA); Emife Ronke Mercy, Women Leader (Kabba Bunu LGA); Zakaria Ahmed Buhari, Youth Leader (Ankpa LGA); Barr. Dugbanya David, Legal Adviser (Bassa LGA); Adutu Ojomebyo David, Organizing Secretary (Ibaji LGA); Jethro Ilusegun Solomon, Welfare Secretary (Mopamoro LGA); Abu Abdulaziz, Auditor (Ogori-Magogo LGA); Mohammed Jimoh Ayira, Financial Secretary (Adavi LGA); Salami Lamidi, Treasurer (Ogori-Magogo LGA); Ibrahim Momosani Hassan, Assistant Secretary (Ankpa LGA).
