Some students of Ebira Muslim Community College Okengwe (EMCCO) in Okene local government area of Kogi state have reportedly beaten one of their teachers to pulp.
The boys who are suspected to belong to a cult group were said to be in SS2.
According to sources within the school, the boys descended on their physics teacher, Mr. Muktar Salihu, unprovoked.
The source alleged they beat up the teacher as part of their grand plan to bring the college under the full control of their cult group.
The alleged leader of the group, Abdulbatin, is said to be a son to one of a traditional ruler in the area, the Opokitipo of Esusu clan in Okengwe district of the Okene council area.
The teacher who went into coma was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment but had since been stabilized and discharged.

One of the school teachers has, however, called on relevant agencies to assist the school in curbing the activities of the ‘boys’.
“We urge the State Ministry of Education, Kogi State Secondary Education Board (KOSSEB), security agencies and other relevant authorities to urgently swing into action with a view to bring the perpetuators to book, forestall future occurrences and instill discipline in our schools and colleges,” the teachers pleaded.
It was gathered that the District Police Officer in the area has waded into the matter and has ordered the traditional ruler to produce his son tomorrow unfailingly.
