A corporate group, Isokan Okun Media Concept, has called on traditional rulers to engage spiritualists and local hunters in fight against insecurity in Okun Land.
The group made the call during a meeting with the Chairman, Okun Traditional Council and Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi in Kabba on Tuesday.
They decried the state of insecurity resulting in brutal killings of residents in Okun communities.
Recalling the recent murder of two farmers in Odo-Ape, Kabba-Bunu local government area of Kogi state, the group tasked Obaro of Kabba to mobilize other monarchs, LG Chairmen and other security stakeholders to convoke a crucial meeting and find lasting solution to the menace.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Ajayi Kayode also suggested to Obaro of Kabba that he use his office to kick-start an annual Okun Day celebration would bring all Okuns together to promote unity and cultural heritage across Okun land.
Furthermore, the group tasked Oba Owoniyi to bring prominent sons and daughters of the area together with the aim of establishing Okun Unity FM radio station in Kabba and other parts of Okun land for proper and adequate information dissemination which will promote the development of the area.
The group conferred an award of excellence on Obaro of Kabba in recognition of his selfless and tireless contribution to the development of Kabba land and Okun nation in general.
Hon. Aiyedogbon Sunday, Chief Raji Adesunkonmi Orokanka and Chief Gbenga Obatakunhe joined Ajayi Kayode at the meeting.
